It has been 30 anniversary after the original Toy Story movie was released, establishing the animation giant as a major film company and introducing viewers to beloved characters like Woody (Tom Hanks) and the space ranger (the voice talent), who are now famous worldwide.
Coming in 2026, the fifth installment is scheduled for release. The initial preview for Toy Story 5 appeared this week, offering a glimpse into the plot but keeping fans wondering how it will resolve the conclusion of Toy Story 4.
The Latest Addition: A Frog-Shaped Tablet Frightens the Gang
In the teaser reveals the young girl — who inherited Andy's toys when he left for college — getting a latest plaything, one that terrifies Woody, Buzz, and the crew. She acquires her initial digital gadget, and she is thrilled about it.
Theoretically, the amphibian-inspired device will animate just like the rest of her playthings. Still, the toys seem to view it as a threat coming to replace them, which it likely will.
The Cowboy's Comeback: Unanswered Questions from Toy Story 4
An element the trailer avoids is what Woody is back with his companions in the child's bedroom. The finale of Toy Story 4 depicted him embark on a fresh journey with Bo Peep (the actress), traveling with a carnival and helping giveaway items find good homes.
Certainly, Pixar will address the aftermath of Toy Story 4 in the film. Witnessing him appear in the familiar setting unexpectedly is a little strange, though. It also makes us wonder whether his partner will have come back with him. And what about the stuntman toy (the star)?
Connections from the Previous Film
At the very least, some aspects are continuing from the earlier movie. The last thing Woody did before departing for his new life was hand over his symbol of authority to the cowgirl (Joan Cusack), leaving her as the leader of Bonnie's bedroom. The clip shows the insignia pinned to her outfit.
Hopefully she is still the driving force among the group.
