Crowds also overwhelmed adjacent streets and sought to penetrate parliament, where the administration had originally scheduled the public viewing.
National Impact and Ethnic Devotion
While predominantly identified as an political challenger, Odinga assumed the role of head of government in 2008 and also established a agreement with Ruto last year in a public service defined by shifting alliances.
He generated passionate devotion among adherents, particularly in his Luo community based in western Kenya, many of whom believe he was denied the highest office by electoral fraud.
